Story (spoilers)
Matthias took Kira in as a second daughter after Ryōshū left. He treated her more like a buddy, and the Middle never fully accepted her. In Canto IX she wanders into the HQ observation room and chats with the Sinners, then chases them and is badly hurt by an Abnormality Moses released. In the raid on the House of Spiders, Matthias cleaves her in half to land a hit on Vespa, saying a small sacrifice is fine for one of their own. Hong Lu saves her with a K Corp. ampule, since the LCC Department wants her alive. Matthias is killed, and Kira is taken in. In Intervallo VII she wakes as a prisoner, is told by Hohenheim to earn her keep, and agrees after Ryōshū shows sympathy. She accepts her father's death and opens up to Limbus Company.
