Matthias is a Great Brother of the Middle, the master of Kira, and one of the five parental figures who trained Yoshihide in the House of Spiders. He is an antagonist in Canto IX: The Unsevering.

Personality
Boisterous, devout to his side and brutal to others. He loves toys, breaks new ones quickly, and collects things he never uses. Beneath that he is selfish and hedonistic, his idea of parenting is spoiling his children with money, and he would sacrifice even fellow Middle members for his own benefit.
Story (spoilers)
As a child Matthias failed to buy a prized toy, and the company then shut down, which left him with lasting despair. As a Big Brother he found the burning relic Lævateinn on an expedition, killed the Great Brother and Great Sister who were with him out of envy, and kept the sword. He later raised Ryōshū, spoiling her and punishing anyone who slighted her, until she severed his right arm with Arayashiki when she left. He then took in Kira. In Canto IX he joins the HQ raid, slaughters LCE staff and LCA agents, and shouts Yoshihide's name in excitement. In the raid on the House of Spiders he cleaves Kira in half to land a hit on Vespa, and is then killed.
