Sinner No. 2

Faust

Know-it-all engineer of Mephistopheles, Sinner #2 and the first to join Limbus Company.

Faust is Sinner #2 of Limbus Company's LCB. Observant, talkative and sure of her own intelligence, she built the engine of the bus Mephistopheles and recruited the other Sinners. She often acts as Dante's informant and overseer.

Affiliation: Limbus Company; linked to the Gesellschaft
Height: 174 cm (5'8")

Personality

Soft-spoken but condescending, with unshakable confidence in her intellect. She usually stands back and watches, holds more information than the other Sinners, and can be harsh toward people who cannot keep up, especially Heathcliff. After Murder on the WARP Express she is more self-conscious and human, and more willing to teach and praise others. Her arrogance partly masks the degradation she faced as a failure among her peers.

Story (spoilers)

Faust was the first Sinner tied to Limbus Company and spent the lead-up recruiting the LCB and building Mephistopheles. She is kept under the control of the Gesellschaft, a network with the Fausts of other Mirror Worlds that decides what knowledge she may share or reach. In Leviathan she offered Vergilius a deal to guide Limbus Company in return for help getting back Lapis and Garnet. In Murder on the WARP Express she loses access to the Gesellschaft, which shows her first real vulnerability and gives her empathy for those who lack her knowledge. Her third-person speech sometimes refers to another Faust. Since then she has been more open with Dante.
